New In & Much Loved

Hello again everyone.  Happy Sunday! How are you all?  If you’re UK based, I sincerely hope that the second lockdown (confirmed in England, likely in other areas) has not brought you too much unease, and that you’re able to have a nice, relaxing weekend.  If you’re USA based, I hope that by the time I publish this post (writing this on Thursday), there will be a new President elected! What a tense old week it’s been. Another quick note to say thank you so much for the love on last week’s blog-post (27 things I’ve learned about myself).  People really seemed to have liked the idea, and it’s gone down really well.  It means so much to know that there is space for my little blog on the ever expanding world wide web.

So, back to business this week with another outfit post - this time, I wanted to showcase a few new pieces that I’ve been getting a lot of wear out over the last few weeks.  Couple of these are birthday presents, and a couple are things that I’ve picked up myself.  Without further ado, let’s get cracking;

So first off, let’s talk about this puffer jacket - I am obsessed.  I’ve been looking to get a black puffer jacket for some time, but was really struggling to find the perfect shape (and price).  This one from Zara really did tick all of those boxes, and ended up being a very generous birthday present from my sister.  It’s boxy in shape (exactly what I was looking for) and also has a hood, which is pretty much essential when you live in Scotland.  I also love just how cosy this jacket is - I think it’ll see me through the cold winter months without any issue.  I went for a size small, and the fit is ideal - still plenty of room for a chunky jumper underneath.  I feel a bit like a bouncer when I wear this jacket - IF YOUR NAMES NOT DOWN, YOU’RE NOT GETTING IN - but I really really love it.  It’s the perfect combination of style and substance.  Definitely one for you to consider if you’re in the market for a new puffer!

Next up, my adidas sweatshirt, which was a lovely present from Calum… LOVE THIS. I’ve worn it pretty much every day since my birthday (apart from the days that it’s been in the wash), and I really can’t get enough.  Again, the sizing of this sweatshirt is spot on.  I like the slightly oversized feel, and was really keen for this to not be too tight.  It's perfect for layering (which I’ve done with this outfit), and you can easily tuck the front in to a pair of high waisted jeans, if that’s the look you’re going for.  The simplicity of the design with the adidas logo in the centre looks so timeless - I really think that this is going to be a staple for me from now on.

For this outfit, I decided to pair the sweatshirt with another new purchase - my green roll neck sweater from Marks & Spencer.  I realised that I don’t have enough of these types of layering pieces in my wardrobe.  The colour of this really stood out to me initially - I did contemplate the black/grey versions, but we all know I love a pop of green, and this will still go with pretty much everything! For reference, this top is almost skin tight, so I opted to size up. Again, this is another staple that I just know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of. I think it works well here.

And now, for my new favourite pair of jeans … surprise surprise, they’re & Other Stories, and they are fabulous.  My other pair of straight leg & Other Stories jeans are so worn, I thought it would be nice to treat myself to a new pair.  These are the crush organic cotton kick flare jeans in strong blue - they are so flattering, so comfortable, and so well made. Features include a high rise waist, slim fit, slightly flared from the knee downwards, but regular on the waist.  What could be better! I really can’t recommend & Other Stories denim enough - they are a bit of a splurge, but very much worth it!

With this look, I decided to throw on my brown teddy-bear/fluffy M&S bag, which gives any outfit real autumn-winter vibes.  I got this a couple of year ago (again, a present), and I always love getting it out at this time of year! With that, I also decided to throw on my trusty Dr. Martens.  My god, have I got a lot of wear out of these.  I’ve had these shoes since my second year of uni (2012-2013?).  Yes, they’re a bit battered and worn, but I really don’t mind that.  They are such incredible quality and always keep your tootsies warm, dry and looking class.  I remember that I used to think it looked like I had clown feet with these on.  That may still be the case, but I am on board!

So there we have it, some new-in pieces (mixed with some much loved/worn pieces), and an outfit that I have been reaching for a lot recently. All of these photos have been taken on my new camera, which I have been super impressed with.  Wee bit of a step up from the old iPhone! Thanks to my mum as always for taking the now standard garden pictures.   All of the links for my outfit (or alternatives) will be linked down below.

As ever - thank you for taking the time to read this blog-post.  It really does mean so much to me (how many times can I say it!).  I would love it if you could share this, and help get the word out about my rather new blogging endeavour.  All of my social media channels are linked down below - give me a wee follow, if you haven’t already!

Lots of love everyone - speak next week!
