Tailoring, but make it casual

Hello everyone - happy Sunday! I hope you’re all doing really well and you’re having a nice, relaxing weekend. This week, we’re chatting tailoring with a twist.  We all love a bit of tailoring, don’t we? You’ll find it in pretty much any wardrobe.  We all have that suit, that pair of trousers, that blazer which we throw on for work, or any formal occasion - I know that I do, and they are some of my favourite pieces.  With that in mind, I wanted to write a blog-post on how to carry those cherished and much loved pieces from occasion and formal-wear, to day-wear.

As I mentioned in my blog-post last week on Autumn styling (do go and take a look at that if you haven’t already), I don’t think that we should feel limited or constricted by tailoring and the way that we wear it.  I repeat, don’t be scared of tailoring - have a bit of fun with it instead!  Whilst tailored trousers and a tailored jacket always look FAB, we don’t always need to style it up that way.

Pair a structured, tailored piece with a soft and loose fitting piece.  Take this outfit for example - I’ve styled up some green tailored trousers with a loose fitting top by the wonderful grlclb.  This is the Pay Artists for Art top, and is one which I love to break out.  Not only is the message on the top something that I can really get behind - it also helps to make this particular outfit more day-wear appropriate.  I’ve been following grlclb on social media for some time, and really love their stuff.  The link to the website is down below - do go and have a browse, as the autumn collection is launching 7/09/2020! The green tailored trousers are from zara, and they are super high-waisted and flattering.  Chuck on a casual jacket (faux leather jacket for me), and a good pair of white trainers (I tend to go for converse).

From there, I like to throw some key accessories in to the mix.  I bought this bag for a friend's wedding a couple of years ago, but I’ve actually managed to get quite a bit of wear out of it! It’s nice to have a pop of silver to go with the hardware on the leather jacket.  Saying that, I'm certainly not precious about wearing only gold or silver accessories. As you can see from the photos above, I'm happy to mix and match. This gold necklace with the green pendant is from Missoma, and is part of their collaboration with Lucy Williams. The stuff is so beautiful and right up my street. You should definitely check them out.

So yeah, this is the sort of outfit that I’ve been reaching for more recently. I really like the contrast in the style and shapes that this look creates, and is perfect for a day out or a catch-up with loved ones (a socially distanced catch-up of course).   I really hope that you’ve enjoyed my blog-post this week.  Do let me know if there’s anything else that you’d like to see from me on here!  The details for my outfit can be found below, as can all of my social media platforms (go and have a nosey).

See you all next Sunday - have a lovely week!
