Guys - I'm back!
Well well well, LOOK WHO IT IS. Guys, it has been a while. I’m very sorry for the radio silence from this wee corner of the internet - in all honesty, I felt like I’d lost a bit of my writing mojo and was struggling to find new and exciting content to update you all on. Lockdown life was starting to hit me hard and it felt tricky to get the creative juices flowing at times, but fear not - I have now taken a break, had a chance to recharge those batteries and feel ready to get typing again whenever the mood takes me!
So - there’s been quite a lot going on since March (isn’t it crazy how quickly the time goes). I guess the main headline news is that I have now completed and passed an online course in Fashion Business via the Institut Français de la Mode (check me out!). It’s been something that I’ve been toying with for some time and I’m so glad that I took the plunge, put myself out there and got LEARNING again (you are never too old to learn something new). I genuinely couldn’t recommend the course enough, and if anyone wants any more details on it then please feel free to get in touch - I’d be happy to fill you in.
Whilst I may not have been so active over here recently, I have been pretty active over on my Instagram (link at the top right of this page). I’ve been thoroughly enjoying posting fashion content over there and have been *virtually* meeting so many incredible new people - it’s really been a joy. I also somehow managed to get to over 1,000 followers a month ago which was a lovely wee milestone for me. I know it's not about the numbers, but I genuinely remember thinking that NO ONE would be interested in what I had to say on fashion or take an interest in how I style pieces, so it’s the biggest compliment whenever anyone wants to follow me. Dead chuffed.
In other news, June has been a very busy month. We’ve celebrated Calum’s birthday with a wonderful day in Edinburgh (filled with excellent food and excellent beer). We’ve also celebrated my mum’s 60th birthday and retirement which has been emotional and joyous - I’m SO chuffed for her. Here’s a snap of my outfit from her big day!
I opted to wear this & Other Stories dress which I absolutely adore. It’s so comfortable whilst also being super flattering and fun. I paired it with these green M&S mules which went perfectly with the dress. I also did a professional photoshoot in this outfit with my friends Rebecca, Suzzi and Julia (can’t wait to see the shots!). I’ve been on many lovely walks, lunches and day-trips - there’s still more to come before the end of this month, and then bring on July!
I thought it would be nice to update you guys on some things I’ve been loving recently - namely any films, tv and music that ya gal has been digging:
On the screen:
Top of my list has got to be a series that has recently been added to iPlayer - Philly D.A. It centres around the appointment of Larry Krasner as District Attorney in 2018, the difficulties he and his colleagues faced and also their uncovering high levels of police misconduct cases.
We’re on episode 4 out of 8, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of it. It’s an incredibly eye opening and honest piece of documentary film - you should definitely give it a watch.
On spotify:
HOW HAVE I NEVER LISTENED TO WOLF ALICE BEFORE?! Believe it or not, I saw a video of them performing on TikTok and I was hooked straight away - so much so that I’ve booked tickets for Calum and I to go and see them in January 2022. Their newest album is gorgeous and I'm looking forward to hearing it live.
Anyway guys, that’s a very quick round-up of what I’ve been up to over the last few months. Expect more fashion content over here soon, as well as general updates, musings and the obligatory garden photos. I’m not going to commit to a strict posting schedule at the moment - I’ll likely just post when the mood takes me! Thanks again for bearing with me - I appreciate it.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful summer. Thank you everyone - sending lots of love,
El xx
