Beret Season

Happy Sunday guys! How’s it going? I hope you’ve had a good week, topped off with an even better weekend.  My week has felt pretty full on and fast paced, so it’s been really nice to take it easy over the last couple of days and concentrate on this blog-post! It’s going to be another fashion one, centered around the outfit I wore for a lovely wee trip down to Cramond beach.

Yesterday was one of those beautiful fresh autumnal mornings.  My pal Katie and I decided to meet for a (socially distanced) walk along the esplanade at Cramond. We had such a nice chinwag and catch-up, and it was so good to see her.  She also very kindly offered to take some blog-post photos for me (what a gem), and I’m pretty pleased with the results!

You know me - I love an autumnal outfit, so I'm really happy to be able to break out my favourite beret again.  It’s from Accessorize, and I just love the size and shape.  I feel like beret’s need to have a bit of volume, and this one does just that. I also find that this colour is super versatile and goes with pretty much everything (I love me a bit of mauve pink).  This accessory is definitely an essential in chilly Scotland, and something which will become a staple again in my wardrobe over the next 5 - 6 months.  I aint mad about that.

Whilst Katie and I were pleased with how these pictures showcase the beret, we did have a right good laugh at the fact that it genuinely looks like a political advertisement. VOTE FOR ELLIE! Anyway, let’s just roll with it.  I decided to keep the rest of my outfit pretty simple.  This jumper from Zara is just … *chefs kiss*. It’s so soft, so comfy, so oversized, and just a wee bitta me.  I also bought knitted trousers to go with it, which you might have seen in my latest Instagram reel (link to my instagram at the bottom of this post), and they are fabulous.  Can I just wear fully knitted outfits from now on please?

So yes, I decided to keep the outfit fairly simple, and wear my good old & Other Stories jeans, my M&S/Alexa Chung coat, my JW PEI bag, and white converse.  I’m sad to admit that it is now starting to get a bit too chilly for my converse .. time to embrace the fact that I need to wear my DMS full time from now until April 2021.  I’m totally fine with this, but I just love a good canvas trainer.

After we got some snaps, Katie and I continued to walk along (the rather blustery) Cramond esplanade, chatting about this and that, including some rather in-depth discussions about the meat industry, the trappings of social media, and of course covid-19.  After grabbing a hot chocolate to go, we headed back up to a more secluded path and got some more nice shots of my outfit.  We walked up and along the River Almond Walkway, which showcased the most beautiful trees with their autumnal leaves.  We couldn’t resist another set of photos.

Hey doggo!

We also got a couple of shots down a pretty lane, and in front of a random person’s house.  Apologies to the resident, but you have a pretty front door. We briefly contemplated getting some photos of me standing in a phone-booth, but both agreed quite quickly that it would be a step too far, haha!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog-post guys. Big big love and thank you to Katie for taking these snaps for me!  If you haven't visited Cramond yet, do make sure you check it out soon. As always, the details of my outfit are linked below, as are my social media platforms.  I would really love it if you could share this post - it really means the world.  Thanks everyone - take care and enjoy the week ahead.  Chat again soon!

Lots of love,

El x
