An afternoon by the sea
Hi everyone. Happy Sunday, how’s it going? I hope you’ve all had a really lovely week.
Wanting to make the most of the sun last weekend, I took a trip over to Aberdour in Fife with my parents - we had such a relaxing time, and we managed to get a couple of good snaps. With that in mind, I wanted to write up a wee blog-post about it this week - it’s nice to mix things up a bit! For me, the British seaside is an absolute gem, and where I feel my most relaxed. I love pretty much everything about it - the sounds, the smells, the architecture, and the atmosphere that all of those things create. I mean really, what’s not to love? Don’t even get me STARTED on how much I love Cornwall! If you’ve never been to the beautiful coastal village of Aberdour, I seriously recommend a visit. With plenty of picturesque shops, cafes, walks, and the beach (of course), you really can’t go wrong when the sun is shining.
Whenever we visit Aberdour, we tend to park up in the village, and meander our way down to the beach (also known as silver sands). From there, we’ll stop and enjoy the surroundings, or even take a paddle in the water, weather permitting. Walking along the beach and up on to a pretty path, you’ll end up at an old lighthouse (known as the 'Ha Lighthouse') which stands on a wee crag, and where you get spectacular views of the Forth. Honestly, this lighthouse belongs in a Wes Anderson movie - isn’t it just beautiful (submitting this image to the accidentallywesanderson instagram account as we speak).
The jacket is new from Marks and Spencer, and I’ve fallen a wee bit in love with it. Catch me wearing this in every blog-post from now on. Anyway - back to our outing! From there, we took a wee wander along the crag, where the views just get better and better. We spent quite a bit of time gazing out over the Firth of Forth, where you can see the Forth Road Bridge, the iconic Rail Bridge, and the Queensferry Crossing. It does genuinely make me feel super lucky to have these surroundings so close by, and really appreciative of being able to go there and enjoy it so easily.
You can then take a wander down in to the harbour area of Aberdour (down some VERY steep steps, may I add), which is equally wonderful. At the bottom of the steps, we took a wee detour and walked along to the entrance of the Forth View Hotel, which also boasts some spectacular views. Man, I want to stay there. Imagine waking up to this in the morning -
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to walk much further and had to almost double-back on ourselves, because a footbridge had been destroyed by the awful storm we had a few weeks ago (thank you Scotland). But regardless, it was such a lovely walk, and a trip I’d recommend to anyone.
So yes, something a bit different this week guys which I hope you’ve enjoyed. Right from the offset with this blog, I was keen to post about anything and everything - the sky’s the limit, and I really felt that this wee trip was worth documenting. I also took some snaps on my 35mm camera, and I’ll try to get those images uploaded on to this wee corner of the internet soon - watch this space!
Details of my thrown together outfit can be found down below, as can my other social media platforms. Do go and have a nosey, if you haven’t already!
Thanks guys - speak next week. Lotsa Love,
El x
